white gold cufflinks

A lovely client came to see me in November, asking me if I could transform these cufflinks for her son. They had belonged to her father and she wanted to hand them down to her son for his 21st birthday, but the yellow gold and the patterned style wasn't his cup of tea.

I removed the diamonds, unsoldered and resoldered the ovals but upside down, then set the diamonds back into the cufflinks in a bezel setting. The cufflinks were then rhodium plated to transform their colour from gold to white.

The resulting cufflinks are far more her son's style, in white metal with a simpler deign, yet they still have the pattern visible underneath and similarities to the cufflinks he knew his grandfather to wear. A very special gift as he and his grandfather had been very close.

The original cufflinks.
